THE RESONARS - That Evil Drone

Released only on vinyl in the Fall of 2008, "hat Evil Drone" by The Resonars makes it CD debut here in the Spring of 2009, which is great news for those of you who refuse to embrace the resurgence of vinyl. No worries, Leader Matt Rendon seems to have absorbed every significant guitar style and sound between George Harrison`s Rick of `63 and Peter Green`s Les Paul of `69. But those are the building blocks and combined with the spot-on harmonies you might hear various echoes, but these are not pastiches.

"They take choppy, Moby Grape-like acid pop tunes and colour them with flawless, Hollies-like harmonies and Byrdsy 12-string guitars! - Shindig! "The Resonars play a style of 60s psychedelic pop that is reminiscent of the Beatles early experimental stage. The Resonars have an excellent grasp on the high-flying vocal harmony over driving guitars and slightly distorted bass. The Resonars are following up 2007s Nonetheless Blue and appear unstoppable in their category. "No Black Clouds Float By" is an example from Drone of multiple layers of `oohs` traveling up and down a melodic bass line. "No Horizon" has a catchy, Fab-Four-sounding chorus that fades into a psychedelic riff." Razorcake. "The mod-psych influence of early Who (especially Rendon`s manic Keith Moon-style drumming) and `Rubber Soul` to `Magical Mystery Tour`-era Beatles is also evident here, due in no small part to his fascination with soaring multiple harmonies. Picture `The Notorious Byrd Brothers` combined with Hollies harmonies and `Rain`-era Beatles psychedelic touches." " TripInsideThisHouse. "That Evil Drone, goes to show that this is the time to get into the Resonars if you are into early 60s psyche. Much like its predecessor, Drone sound is psychedellia in the vein of the Beatles exiting the mop top phase or the early Byrds albums. Loads of good vocal melodies laid over jangly guitars and well placed fuzz. The Resonars have it down but do not ride on the contrived. Good song writing prevails. " - BillupsAllen. You got it, hugely, massively Highly Recommened!
