Back in 1995, the first year of Not Lame`s existence, there was a band in
our second mail order catalog by band called The Jennifers called "Nine Days
Of Wonder"(which we just found two copies of!). It disappeared, as did the
band, a few years later. Out of the blue, an EP and now a full CD arrived in
2006! "Colors From The Future" sounds like the follow up to their debut, 11
years on. Recorded in full glorious hi-fidelity sound at Invisible Sound
Studios with master guitar-pop producer, Dave Nachodsk who is known for his
excellent work with Myracle Brah and Starbelly. It`s a rave-up blend of a
lot of cool bands - Yo La Tengo, The Feelies, The dB`s, The Pastels and a
bit of The Real Kids, just to add a bit of rock `n roll grounding. Further
my appreciation for this band, as I was looking into this release, I found a
very cool cover of Television`s "Friction" on their web site (
www.thejennifers.com/music.html, there`s overs of Cleaners From Venus, The
Pretty Things and others there, too) but "Colors From The Future" is ultra-cool,
early/mid 80`s Hobeken indie-alt-rock style. Very Highly Recommended!
