Been a long time we heard from Illinois` The Krinkles and they return with their 3rd and by a long mile, their strongest album of hard-driving bar-cum-glam-power pop that is big on chugging, persistent guitar melodies and hook heavy rhythms. With influences ranging from Badfinger to Kiss and other Illinois bands like Cheap Trick, Material Issue, Shoes and all rock in-between, The Krinkles have a sound harkening to the glory days of Rock `nÂ` Roll with crisp vocal harmonies and delicate melody. This "hit you over the head without leaving a mark" approach is undercut by thunderous drums, pounding bass and thick crunchy guitars, giving The Krinkles a sound and future that continues to grow. "Classic Cheap Trick-styled power pop along w/ a touch of glam and bubblegum thrown in for good measure. `Dirty Girl` and `Stay With Me` are a couple of great rocking tunes that not only call to mind the Trick, but contemporaries such as The Fags and Waltham. "Gimme Gimme`" is where the bubblegum influence comes in, with the end result being a sort of Badfinger/Raspberries merger. `Sweet On You` has a more modern, Myracle Brah-like, power pop sound, while "I Want You`"and "Friday Night" bear a Merseyside/British Invasion."AbsolutePowerPopBlog. ""In the great tradition of Flaming Groovies and Cheap Trick, there`s a big emphasis on scorching guitar and rough hewn harmonies. They have a loose playing style that mixes early Beatles energy with Rick Nielsen guitar stylings. `Gimme Gimme` is good tune with choruses that remind me of the early Raspberries!"-PowerPopAholic. A most welcome and very strong return!!
