Wow! A fave band of many Not Lamers from the late 90`s, The Supers released
an album called "Splkanng!" that lit all us indie power pop freaks afire!
A few years later, they followed it up with a bit of a curve-ball for pop
purists that mined a more roots, alt-country vibe called, Mystery On Pop
Mountain. Here, in 2006, The Supers blissfully resurfaced, full re-energized
and primed with years of honing 12 superbly written songs filled with an
earthy, warm jangle, angelic vocal harmonies between singers Maury Lafoy and
Graham Powell and confident articulations of classic pop idioms. Listen to
the best sounding Matthew Sweet ballad you`ve heard in years with "Tin Man"
as an example of that last statement! Yet, let`s be clear, when writing
about The Supers it`s not easy to fall into proclamatory statements of "The
band sounds like _____ (fill in yr fave influence)". This is over four
years in the making and it shows in every note - they are doing their *own*
thing. And really, really well. Stronger, Tougher, and darker material
spills into The Supers power pop mix on this release which is sure to please
the most discerning music fan. Bottom line is fans of rich, full
flavored, carefully cooked `great music` need to check out The Supers. No
cookie cutter pop here. Just plenty of distinctive, sticky `n subtle guitar
sounds and ear-possessing charms all over the place. Here`s even better
news. For a limited time, pick up "Re:Arrange" from Not Lame and get their
"Mystery On Pop Mountain" throw in. Supplies are very limited(if we run out,
we`ll supply you a link to download it, worry not! We all want you to
ENJOY the music!). Experience (and that is the word) The Supers along
with all of us here. Man, hate to repeat, but they most definitely
Extremely Highly Recommended!
