We loved this bands` 4 song self-titled EP, but this full length debut
over-reaches and jumps past the promise on that release. The songs here,
there`s not a duff one in the bunch, blend equal parts of The Pernice
Brothers, Tom Petty(think Travelin` Wilburys), Wilco, Jayhawks and The
Smithereens. "Things start off with `Big Coat`, an excellent shuffle that`s
instantly catchy. `Secret Law` sounds like Tom Petty meets The Pernice
Brothers. "Feel Me" has that Smithereens` `Blood and Roses` feel to it.
`Don`t Need It` is an untempo marvel that has an early Posies sound.
`Notion` is a great keyboard and acoustic guitar-driven number. I`m not
sure I`ll hear a more beautiful melody the rest of the year than the one
belonging to `Whirl`, although the closing track that follows it,
`Summercity`, comes damn close! An early contender for `Best of 2007!" -
AbsolutePowerpopBlog. The sound of excellent acoustic/electric tinged
strummy pop highlighted by gorgeous harmonies, one moment sparse and
understated, the next building to a triumphant roar of churning drums and
guitar. It`s This one was a review of their EP, but it applies to
what we have going on here: "The songs are rock solid and and edgy,
delivered with a punch that you`d only expect from a tight-knit group.
Peroni laces his songs with big Brit-rock guitars and sensibility, then
pumps up the volume with old-fashioned American attitude. A brilliant piece
of work!" - MishMashMusic. Dreamy and pleasantly subtle and will appeal to
anyone who actually listens to lyrics, as well. Very much so, Extremely
Highly Recommended!
