Young Sportmen, bringing to mind the very best of The Figgs at the poppiest perfection, Soundtrack Of Our Lives, Brendan Benson and Sloan.Take lead off track "The Rocks And The Stars" as the best example of melding all four of those bands together in
one seamless whole. Then "Chavez", track number 2, that will remind us
all of the sadly departed Superdrag at the top-form. "Planetary Gears" manages to lift "Pictures Of Lily" and quickly move back into Sloan-territory. There`s a theme here, folks. It`s that Young Sportsmen are very much a classic styled Not Lame power pop band that deserve you attention. "On Your Lips" could have walked off The Posies` "Amazing
Disgrace" or "Frosting On The Beater". All five songs are excellent, not
even close to delivering a duff one! " Familiar Glow is a rollicking, energetic pop-rock fiesta rife with bouncy rhythms, tight harmonies and singalong choruses. I?d mention a standout track if that were possible. Each of the five tunes are separate but equal parts of a whole that does itself an injustice when listened to individually. But that?s always been the case with these guys. They don?t just write great songs, they
write great records." - Randomville Magazine.
"Easily one of the best local bands I`ve heard in
ages, their sound harkens back to the (too short)
golden age of Seattle power pop . . . I can also hear hints of Superdrag, Sloan and the New Pornographers in each of these five extremely catchy songs, which range from excellent to stunning. Let`s hope to hear a lot more from them soon!"- indiepages.com Extremely Highly
