Four years in the making (and every second sounding like it), Blue Cartoon has returned with their crowning achievement, "September Songs". Their fourth album, "September Songs" is a mature, immediately gripping release that incorporates all kinds of carefully layered vocals, jangling guitars and, importantly, memorable melodies. Blue Cartoon's music is sprinkled with subtleties that unfold with repeated listens; yet somehow never stray too far from the 'pure pop' values that has served as the band's central point since the mid 90's. Fans of Michael Carpenter, The Merrymakers and Bill Lloyd will just freak (translation: love it!), as will fans of C,S, N & Y, The Byrds and The Thorns.
Once again, along with the band, Not Lame has put together a special, exclusive package of unreleased, rare extra music for you supporting the
work of Not Lame and picking up this album with us. Read on. But make sure "September Songs" is playing right now in your browser as it's the best sales pitch we can offer.
Here's what Not Lame and Blue Cartoon have for you.
Fans will want to jump on this right now, just for this.
We have downloads of two unreleased songs only heard in the bands' inner-circles. "It Never Ends" comes from the sessions of their third album, "The Wonder Of It All" and was set aside for newer material written at the time. "Stranger To Me Now" was written from the "September Songs" pool, but they had plenty of excellent songs so this gem was left off until it could find a home. For now, the home is here and now for you, who order "September Songs" from Not Lame.
Great music just has to find a way to get heard and we have to more exclusive songs to offer you for supporting Not Lame and Blue Cartoon here. The first one is "This Time Around", which was placed on the Swedish compilation called "Hit The Hay Vol.4" in 1999. We carried this compilation until it came out, but few people have heard this one. The second song is "Blink Of An Eye", which is also part of the September Songs pool; this is a demo and the arrangement is still in development but you don't have to wait!
Yup. More. We're music fans. Big Time.
The more music, the better.
Blue Cartoon have released three albums before "September Songs" just arrived. The sad fact is that, all three are pretty much out of print.
Here's the scoop. Their self-titled debut went out of print three years ago. Their second album, "Downtown Shangri-La" is down to a few handful of copies, which we have available on this site and "The Wonder Of It All" went out of print a few months ago.
If you don't own these jangle-pop treasures, we have one song each of the releases for you, so you can enjoy some of the excellent music from them and let the music live on.
Hopefully, the value in all this is clear, especially if you are enjoying
the music right now.
