GENE CLARK - A Tribute:
The World Turns All Around Him
Now Playing:
"A Tribute To Gene Clark"
Gene Clark is considered one of of the finest songwriters in rock' n roll the last 40 years and he's had a few tributes released to celebrate his special talents. Now, from Sweden's Groover Recordings label comes the latest tribute and Not Lame has another truly special deal set up for you if you pick up "The World Turns All Around Him", a tribute to Gene Clark from Not Lame. Read on below.
This tribute is different from the out of print (and now rare) tribute our own label released in 1999, "Full Circle". Where "Full Circle" was, generally, a faithful representation of Gene's originals, musically, "The World Turns All Around Him" gathers up 24 bands/artists and 24 songs that, mostly, that are performed by folks under the age of 30 years old and in indie rock and power pop bands, who have only recently come under the spell of Gene Clark's brilliance. Scan and listen to the songs in the stream above and you can verify and experience this. Very cool hearing cool young folk obsessed with the right influences! This tribute, also, features liner notes from Byrds and Gene Clark author/expert, John Einarson. Einarson has written the definitive book on Gene called "Mr. Tambourine Man: The Life & Legacy Of The Byrds' Gene Clark", which you can find at Amazon.
As for cool, exclusive extras here is what is going on!
Again, Groover Recordings proves what cool taste they have with having a band like The Martial Arts on their label.
So, for $12 (plus postage) you get the 24 songs from "The World Turns All Around Him", and 4 songs from The Martial Arts.
That's 28 (really cool) songs for $12 plus postage.
Ahhh, but you knew this. It gets better. There's more.
I'll do the math now for you.
So that makes it 36 songs now for the cost of one CD.
Do you realize that Not Lame's "Full Circle" tribute to Gene Clark is a $50+ item on Ebay and has hit $100. Well, it is and it has. There were 36 songs on it, but Not Lame is giving you access to 8 of our artists that appeared on it if you pick up this latest tribute to Gene.
