Randy and The Bloody Lovlies "Lift"

Randy and The Bloody Lovelies are a band that should have found Not Lame, not us finding them. Why do we say that? They are classic pure pop and that`s what we do, ya know?! Well, we`re glad we found this new one, "Lift" and their debut. Randy Wooten sounds a bit like a combination of Doug Powell and Sun Sawed In 1/2 lead singer Doug Bobenhouse, a hearty compliment as both of these voices are as pure as melted glacial snow(there`s a bit of Bowie, too). Like Ben Folds Five and The Argument, the piano drives the songs, the melodies and, indeed, fans of these bands are going to really embrace this release.

"Heralding from California, this is a crew with a unique sound carved out deep, and songwriting chops to back it up. Falling on the more accessible side of alt-country, its just clean, twangy guitars, piano-work vaguely reminiscent of what you would find walking into a wild west saloon, and a voice vaguely reminiscent of Demolition-era Ryan Adams. The songs here are very well-developed, and the album clocks in at a nifty 13 tracks. Lift is actually, at its heart, a concept album.. Lift starts off amazingly well, with one of the best tracks on the record, Red Carpets. Other highlights include Isabella, and the utterly gorgeous piano-plunked Blue Horizons. This album is worth checking out just for that track; its such a fantastic song. The song craft here stays tight; nothing stretches out any further than it needs to go. The fun tracks are a lot of fun, and the deeper tracks are heart-touching"-SoundTheSirens. "Randy & The Bloody Lovelies sophomore effort, Lift, is an interesting mix of quirky, melodic tunes that almost defy categorization.. Lift is certainly not an easy album to delve into. Rather, its a challenging listen that affirms that, even in a largely homogenous music industry, diversity and even a little weirdness can
thrive."-Ink19.com. Extremely Highly Recommended!
