Drake Bell - It`s Only Time

CD/DVD set here. Drake Bell is a 19 year old kid, marketing to teenies, but get this...this is pure power pop delight. Check it out below and hear for yourself! Check out the first one, "Up Periscope" below. Jellyfish with a touch of Rooney, maybe. But this kid has heard Roger `n Andy, I`m tellin` ya! It`s an almost surreal listen, actually, because Bell is being marketed by his label as a teen star, but this is pure power pop for the geek masses. Well, okay, we`re not a mass here at Not Lame, but this has all the hallmarks of accomplished pop sheen with fetching, alluring vocal harmonies(by Bell and a cast of great singers), notably inventive arrangements and positively first-rate songs. J-fish fans take note. While it`s not the second coming of "Bellybutton", the fact that someone under the age of 20 is geeked about the band is a very, very good thing and the goods are here, even if he was not fully allowed to follow the path of Roger `n Andy. "It`s Only Time" manages to nod at his own record collection while trying to make a record that could potentially sell oodles and oodles to all ages. Well done, Young Drake, well done. For fans of well produced, albeit commercial power pop, this one is a must!
