MICHAEL CARPENTER - Redemption #39 http://www.notlame.com/CDCARPENTER7.htmlMICHAEL CARPENTER - Redemption #39 MICHAEL CARPENTER - Redemption #39 Now, many of you know I am a fan of Michael Carpenter. So I am biased, one could argue. I truly think Carpenter is one of the most overlooked talents in so-called `power pop` genre. His legacy, still building, is one that will be recognized more appropriately years down the line. Not only is he a crazy good multi-instrumentalist, but he is an accomplished, well-respected producer recognized in Australia as being a ` go to` guy to get a project done, done well, on budget, on time. He`s, also, a naturally gifted songwriter who instinctively knows what makes a song work and continually evolves his craft with each project he engages himself inside of. <p> The latest evolutionary step for Carpenter is "Redepmption #39", for me his most consistent, most accomplished project yet. Yes, I have said this before with earlier projects but my proclamation is not hyperbole because I maintain and have documented I believe he`s an artist in a continual process of self-improvement. "Redemption #39" is Carpenter`s 8th solo release. It shows Carpenter back in `one man band` mode, with him writing, performing and producing almost all the new album. The album showcases an uncompromising, stylised sonic palette that reflects the album`s starker themes and content.<p> The album was recorded between 2006 and 2008 at Carpenter`s "Love Hz Studios" in Sydney, Australia. While it has the familiar colours of powerpop and alt.country his fans have come to expect from his solo output, this material comes from a more distinct creative place. It reflects a time where Carpenter was observing an `emptiness`, not only in elements of his own personal and creative life, but in the lives of many around him. These themes manifest themselves in a much darker and assertive style of production, where raw tones, concise layering and some unpredictable elements combine with Carpenter`s assured lead vocals and his most ambitious backing vocal layering to date. <p> <a href="http://www.notlame.com/audio/cdcarpenter601.mp3"><img src="http://www.notlame.com/images/ear.jpg" width="20" border=0 alt="power pop, independent music"></a> <a href="http://www.notlame.com/audio/cdcarpenter601.mp3">Song #1</a> - mp3</p><p><p> <a href="http://www.notlame.com/audio/cdcarpenter602.mp3"><img src="http://www.notlame.com/images/ear.jpg" width="20" border=0 alt="power pop, independent music"></a> <a href="http://www.notlame.com/audio/cdcarpenter602.mp3">Song #2</a> - mp3</p><p><p> <a href="http://www.notlame.com/audio/cdcarpenter603.mp3"><img src="http://www.notlame.com/images/ear.jpg" width="20" border=0 alt="power pop, independent music"></a> <a href="http://www.notlame.com/audio/cdcarpenter603.mp3">Song #3</a> - mp3</p><p><p> <a href="http://www.notlame.com/audio/cdcarpenter604.mp3"><img src="http://www.notlame.com/images/ear.jpg" width="20" border=0 alt="power pop, independent music"></a> <a href="http://www.notlame.com/audio/cdcarpenter604.mp3">Song #4</a> - mp3</p><p><p> <a href="http://www.notlame.com/audio/cdcarpenter605.mp3"><img src="http://www.notlame.com/images/ear.jpg" width="20" border=0 alt="power pop, independent music"></a> <a href="http://www.notlame.com/audio/cdcarpenter605.mp3">Song #5</a> - mp3</p><p><p> <a href="http://www.notlame.com/audio/cdcarpenter606.mp3"><img src="http://www.notlame.com/images/ear.jpg" width="20" border=0 alt="power pop, independent music"></a> <a href="http://www.notlame.com/audio/cdcarpenter606.mp3">Song #6</a> - mp3</p><p><p> <a href="http://www.notlame.com/audio/cdcarpenter607.mp3"><img src="http://www.notlame.com/images/ear.jpg" width="20" border=0 alt="power pop, independent music"></a> <a href="http://www.notlame.com/audio/cdcarpenter607.mp3">Song #7</a> - mp3</p><p><p> <a href="http://www.notlame.com/audio/cdcarpenter608.mp3"><img src="http://www.notlame.com/images/ear.jpg" width="20" border=0 alt="power pop, independent music"></a> <a href="http://www.notlame.com/audio/cdcarpenter608.mp3">Song #8</a> - mp3</p><p><p> <a href="http://www.notlame.com/audio/cdcarpenter609.mp3"><img src="http://www.notlame.com/images/ear.jpg" width="20" border=0 alt="power pop, independent music"></a> <a href="http://www.notlame.com/audio/cdcarpenter609.mp3">Song #9</a> - mp3</p><p><p> <a href="http://www.notlame.com/audio/cdcarpenter610.mp3"><img src="http://www.notlame.com/images/ear.jpg" width="20" border=0 alt="power pop, independent music"></a> <a href="http://www.notlame.com/audio/cdcarpenter610.mp3">Song #10</a> - mp3</p><p><p> <a href="http://www.notlame.com/audio/cdcarpenter611.mp3"><img src="http://www.notlame.com/images/ear.jpg" width="20" border=0 alt="power pop, independent music"></a> <a href="http://www.notlame.com/audio/cdcarpenter611.mp3">Song #11</a> - mp3</p><p><p> <a href="http://www.notlame.com/audio/cdcarpenter612.mp3"><img src="http://www.notlame.com/images/ear.jpg" width="20" border=0 alt="power pop, independent music"></a> <a href="http://www.notlame.com/audio/cdcarpenter612.mp3">Song #12</a> - mp3</p><p>http://www.notlame.com/MICHAEL_CARPENTER/Page_1/CDCARPENTER7.html
