Jerry Chapman - Put Me Together

After the very strong debut of "Rumors Of My Death", Jerry Chapman returns with "Put Me Together" that takes a confident step forward working more fully realized artistic vision, interesting production flourishes and, most importantly, quality songs that beg and hold up to repeated listens. Witness: any of the soundbites below. Sometimes that`s the best way to go, right? It`s why they are there. Here, I call attention to "Hard To Believe" the tour-de-force on "Put Me Together", which sounds like a very, very strong track off of McCartney`s "Ram" with George Harrison guesting and Peter Murphy helping out on vocals. "Huh?" you say. Well, listen, I retort.

You want more words? But when words require, Not Lame will help you out, as we always do. Musically, it`s a rootsy rock `n pop affair. Reminding me of a marriage of, say, Matthew Sweet(Chapman`s knows his way around massively hooky guitar melodies) and John Hiatt. Come to think of it the mini-supergroup, The Thorns is evoked here. Others I`d say this excellent material reminds of me would be Barenaked Ladies, Tom Petty, Pete Yorn, Jars Of Clay, Wilco, Jason Mraz and James McMurtry. It`s all good. Very, very good.
