Crazed Outlook - Crazed Outhttp://www.notlame.com/CDCRAZEDOUTLOOK1.htmlCrazed Outlook - Crazed OutCrazed Outlook - Crazed OutVery nicely done home CD-R project that, simliar to Bob Salvait, mines more early 80`s new wave pop sounds, but Crazed Outlook goes a bit further into the later part of that decade--and beyond-- working in some sounds of the forgotten Railway Children, Elvis Costello and Blur. The soundscapes on crazed outlooks debut album flaunt current elements, while also flashing back through the past four decades. The opening track "Spellbound" combines a 90s rock groove, emotional lyrics and a hook that does not let go, whereas "Karma" exudes a more radio-friendly, yet intimate, vibe. The horn-laden "Undateable", which vents about dating frustrations, has a retro-80s mood not far removed from Phil Collins or Erasure, but with an edginess not portrayed by either artist. "Cute" takes the post-grunge movement in a new direction, combining cynical lyrics about the endurance of physical attraction with a dynamic blend of loud and soft guitars. One of the most explosive songs on the album, "Pop diva" takes a multi-faceted look at the rise and fall of a stereotypical pop diva. The infectious "Ill do anything" is about extreme infatuation, one of the reoccurring themes on the album. Proving that good songs matter and always sounding fresh, crazed outlook puts the power in power pop. "Crazed(the singer) sound quite a bit like John Wesley Harding, and the opener, "Spellbound" wouldn`t be out of place one of Harding`s more rocking efforts. "Karma" is a great mid-tempo number with a bit of jangle. They then break out the horns on "Undateable", which ha a late 70`s Graham Parker pub-rock vibe...If you`re a fan of any of these acts i`ve mentioned here, this one`ll be right up your alley"-AbsolutePowerPopBlogspot.com.
