"Funny that Will Dailey should name his latest project, one intended partly as a response to the changing economy of selling music, after the primary method of stealing it. But "torrent" could also refer to the speed and volume with which the Boston-based singer-songwriter currently finds himself coming up with material, and "Torrent, Volumes 1 & 2" collects a pair of EPs that Dailey released digitally as fast as he finished them earlier this year. "Fashion of Distraction" is the stronger of the two, starting off with "Peace of Mind"; it has the ringing guitars of power pop (12-string courtesy of Roger McGuinn) and the organ of Bob Dylan`s "Blonde on Blonde," making it more or less Tom Petty. Dailey balances it with atmospheric acoustic numbers both light ("Keep You a Mystery") and ominous ("Allston") before "Down the Drain" grafts a horn section to a Hold Steady-tough stomp." Boston.com.
"Laden with electric 12-string riffs and rich harmonies, Will Dailey`s third release has a vintage vibe that calls to mind intergenerational collaborations between the Byrds and the Jayhawks ("Laugh It Off" or Tom Petty and Ryan Adams ("So Many Wrong Ways"). But it is more than the ring of familiarity that makes this record instantly enjoyable; Dailey has impeccable pop instincts and a knack for marrying the finest phrases to the catchiest melodies. Blending anthemic melodies, rave-up rhythms, and a "Wall of Sound" arrangement that culminates in a killer guitar solo, "ever Be Your Baby" sounds like his surefire radio hit. When the instrumentation is pared back to acoustic guitars, mandolin, and percussion ("Allston"), or a single ukelele ("Too Long", the songs have even more charm and resonance. And though some songs come close to "Kravitz-ing"the classics, one tune captures the passion of someone reacting to this moment in history." - Acoustic Guitar magazine.
" 3 1/2 stars. Will Dailey`s Torrent is not a traditional album, but rather a combination of two themed EPs. Like Ryan Adams` Love Is Hell, the first half channels the songwriter`s love for past rock traditions -- in this case, the jangled sounds of `60s pop/rock and `70s singer/songwriter fare -- while the second half shifts its focus to more evocative, acoustic fare. Despite the obvious debt to past genres, Torrent often sounds quite contemporary, mixing crisp production with the sort of family-friendly, instantly enjoyable stuff that routinely finds its way onto TV soundtracks. There`s no denying Dailey`s desire to be commercial, and his partnership with the music branch of CBS ensures that many of these songs will also appear in the network`s shows. Nonetheless, there are enough diversions from the mainstream formula to make this an enjoyable listen, from the power pop gallop of "Never Be Your Baby" to Roger McGuinn`s tasteful cameo on "Peace of Mind."" -AMG.
 Song #1 - mp3

 Song #2 - mp3

 Song #3 - mp3

 Song #4 - mp3

http://www.notlame.com/WILL_DAILEY/Page_42/CDDAILEY1.html
