We`re talking Badfinger, Raspberries, Cheap Trick, ELO, Squeeze, Marshall Crenshaw, and The Rooks` first album. That good. That great. Best place to check it out properly is just listening to the soundbites below. Fans of excellent vocals are going to be particularly
happy `n pleased. " This album is proof that some of the best music out
there remains unsigned talent. The Goldbergs are essentially a solo effort from a supremely talented Andy Goldberg. Personally I would`ve changed the band name to something a bit less ethnic -- (The Rosenbergs anyone?) but this does not diminish what is an excellent CD. This album hit me for a loop out of left field with it`s solid musicianship and melody. Best comparisons here are Marc Bacino, Jamie Hoover, Scott Sax and early Nick Lowe. I listened to it several times, looking for a bad track or filler. None could be found. The only track that seems off is a corny country themed "Can`t stop myself." Still it is a not a bad song and the remaining nine tracks are all ear candy. It has a lot of Beatlesque harmonies that keep you hooked
(literally!) I am still wondering where this guy was hiding himself and his awesome music!"- PowerpopaholicBlog. <p> The power pop folks continue to rave! "Listening to The Goldbergs today, my jaw dropped at how good it is. This is perhaps the most fully realized power pop debut since Eugene Edwards` My Favorite Revolution a couple of years ago.Although nominally a band, it`s pretty much all Andy Goldberg here, and the comparisons that leap to mind are several: Marshall Crenshaw, Michael Carpenter, Walter Clevenger, the aforementioned Mr. Edwards, and to head back to the 70s, Badfinger and Nick Lowe. Normally at this point of the review I tout the top tracks on the disc, but I really can`t do that here as all ten are nearly equally outstanding. Although I want to listen a few (dozen) more times before ranking it, all I can say right now is that Bob Evans and Supraluxe need to be looking over their shoulders."-AbsolutePowerPopBlog.
