Reminding us of bands like Throwing Muses, Belly, Blake Babies and PJ Harvey("I"m So Lonely" being the best example, sounding like an lost Harvey treasure), as well as some early 90`s female fronted bands from K Records from the early 90`s. Indeed, "About This Girl" sounds like a lost, unknown gem from this era of indie grrl rawk with, naturaly, female fronted vocals set against a backdrop of thunderous bass and drums and driving guitars and a drummer that pounds the skins in thunderous fashion really driving the band`s energy forward. " instead of trying to describe it, I`ll just say what I like about it. There`s something so fun about these songs. You can`t help but wiggle a little in your office chair?or barstool. The melodies are interesting and intricate. The performances are charming and very well done. This band is very talented. This is just a really well thought out, well-executed, and above all fun record and I hope the Histioniks continue to put out unique and interesting music for the discerning ear."Collected Sounds.

The band says this about vision of the record: About This Girl, well, its about this girl, perhaps any girl coming of age and being misunderstood. Its her personal diary put to music and verse. Her journey begins innocently enough - all girls are innocent at first. As the cover art suggests, she is a person of many faces, a woman and a child of great complexity who is willing to try anything. Its not the unholy trinity of sex, drugs, and rock and roll that do her in ( although at least two out of three are at work here) but rather the unusual way in which she chooses to live her life. About This Girl illustrates the point that life is a cumulative process - you just pick up things along the way. Very Highly Recommended for fans of any of the aforementioned bands, without hesitation!
