This is NOT the UK-mod/pop outfit from the early 80`s, but songs on this CD could be from them as they have material that has a Mod/Who-ish sound--"Somethin`gs Going On" totally rearranges "I Can`t Explain". This San Francisco foursome run a diverse course of sounds; mod/power pop, Flamin` Groovies/Animals/The Remains - like R&B, and power pop punch of Paul Collins` The Beat. Youthful and un-self-conscious, this is refreshing, unpretentious, simply played music that is very appealing to power pop fans, while not fitting easily into that classification because it`s 60`s influences that are bit more grounded on R&B. The reedy voice doesn`t stand in the way of a fun romp down memory lane with mostly upbeat tunes.
