Very much a record that should appeal to most folks who spend time with Not Lame! Ted Lukas returns to his power pop roots, mixing in Americana soul for a new recipe that’s all his own. In the mid-to-late 90's, Ted Lukas served as the premier songwriter, lead guitar player, and heart and soul behind Big Deal Recording Artists, Barely Pink. He is featured on the group's Big Deal debut, Number One Fan ('97), and their follow-up release, Ellie's Suitcase ('99). The 10-songs recorded for this self-produced, self-released CD captures the dynamic guitars, catchy melodies, and heartfelt vocals that were once made popular by classic artists such as Tommy Keene, Big Star, Nick Lowe, and Badfinger. We said this was a Not Lame-styled slab of excellent power pop, right? Well, we meant it! <p> “"OK with Everything" lets you know that everything will be OK on this disc, as Lukas fires up a rocker that's in the Matthew Sweet meets Steve Earle department; in fact, Lukas' vocals sounds like a cross between Earle and Terry Anderson (he of the Yayhoos and the Olympic Ass-Kickin' Team). The standout track is "Hearts Like Mine", a midtempo rocker with an easy melody and a hint of jangle. Elsewhere, "I Can't Believe" boasts a fresh, poppy chorus; the title track is an excellent roots rocker; and "Static Reaction" closes the disc in fine Pettyesque fashion. No hometown boost needed here - I'd recommend this disc even if Lukas were from Timbuktu or Togo instead of Tampa."”-AbsolutePowerPopBlog. “3.5 out of 5. Ted Lukas delivers a commendable solo album that skews more power-pop than recent releases. Big hooks and memorable choruses are constants throughout. Sonny John Sundstrom offers meaty lead-guitar licks, while Mark Warren and Finn Walling also contribute ace ax work. Lukas' assured vocals, though, are always at the forefront, with the lyrics reading like a series of measured pep talks about not letting life get the best of you. Mature but never lacking verve or pop appeal, Misled rocks out with refined finesse.”-Creative Loafing.
