It`s an updated 60`s pop sound, utilizing arrangements, instruments and
melodies that are familiar trodden territory for many of us. It`s a big
task, too. Thankfully, the songs McGuire bring to the pop party are up for
it. With help from Not Lame fave, Charley Dush (he recorded and mixed it
and plays all over) and others, the CD is rich with warm harmonies, ringing acoustic and electric guitars, a lot of Harrison-like melodies and a simple, effective merging of traditional western instruments with exotic eastern instruments ala Sitar, Tambura, and Tabla, on selected tracks. There`s some "Reckoning"-era REM styled jangle that creeps, happily, into the light, especially on "Still In Love"`s verses; very effective. Emotions emote, melodies drift skyward, instrumentation compliments the soul of the simple song. Masterfully reflective, artistically challenging, principally acoustic driven, McGuire nails his craft right down to the board and makes it hard to move out of the listeners` head. Very Highly Recommended!
