2006 releases from the Young Fresh Fellows`(and REM) Scott McCaughey and company---and this is their *tour de force*, their `true gem` and crowning accomplishment. Good `n great as their previous works have been, this one tops `em all---by a long shot. Part of that is the supporting cast - and that is by design --- with John Ramberg (the Model Rockets), Jeff Tweedy, John Stirratt, Glenn Kotche(the last three from Wilco), Peter Buck, Morgan Fisher(Mott The Hoople), the Decemberists` Colin Meloy and John Moen, John Wesely Harding, Sean Nelson of Harvey Danger and the Long Winters and Ken Stringfellow all helping out. How can one trip up w/ a cast like this? Well, The Minus 5 does not. A joyous, buoyant, textural record. This eponymous record contains all the great elements of great pop records..variety of arrangements and masterful engineering...simply put, a sonic masterpiece...not a weak moment on the record!
