The Offramps - Hate It When You`re Right

Hmm, that *does* pretty much sum it up other than missing The Offramps` biggest influence. Raw Minneapolis-styled rock `n roll, we`re talking lots of The Replacements (witness "Motorcade" and "Skoal Motel" below) and Husker Du at their most poppiest(which was not terribly often, granted but when they did, man, was it great!). The sound is a culmination of power-pop hooks and 80`s punk energy, with a touch of twang and classic-rock thrown in for texture. Call it "Exile on Main Street" meets "Pleased to Meet Me". Call it "I Don`t Wanna Grow Up" meets "Heaven Tonight". The Offramps say this revealingly about their music: "We consider ourselves power pop - it`s not snotty enough to be punk and a little too fast to be straight ahead rock `n roll." True, true. It`s old fashion raw rock `n roll played by three guys with a pure pop heart and still finds a way to sweat. "The Offramps deliver high energy sets of original power pop punk, occasionally straddling the line of alt-country and classic 70`s rock. Their record collections are vast and diverse - Cheap Trick to the Descendents, The Stones to Husker Du, Joan Jett & The Blackhearts to Steve Earle.
