Japanese import at a great price from a long-time Not Lame fave. Why? Well, pull up a chair and listen, my dear friend. This purely entrenched in 1975 pop band that pulls of glammy pop cum Bay City Rollers quite wonderfully. The best power pop band to come out of Japan, The Oranges produce incredibly pure, hip, catchy, Japanese bubblegum-power music. So if you like the idea of a pure power pop, bubblegummy extraganza of Bay City Rollers, glammy T. Rex and Sweet, then you have heaven here. With their Bay City Roller "look" and Bo Donaldson and The Heywoods haircuts, this foursome display catchy riffs and power guitars, while singing of love and dreams. But disclaimer,xenophobes: they sing in Japanese. But, trust me...while some may not dig that, with the Oranges, it could not be less of a tripping pop lovers! Listen below and you`ll fall in love. Really.

This was written about an earlier record of theirs, but you know, they all have the same vibe and each one refines it, makes it better, more powerful, more potent in its insidiously happy effect on the pop soul and Teen Rock is their best. "I want to find those accursed Oranges to punish them for their criminally fun and ultracatchy music. They`ve strewn their giggly pop goo all over this new disc, and for that they must pay. This disc is so silly, it could raise a smile to the face of someone with the blackest of dispositions. In fact, I smiled three times while listening and flogged myself in punishment. What makes it worse, The Oranges are bringing back the innocent feel of British pop-rock of the early 70`s. I thought that I had stamped this out when I caused the demise of the Bay City Rollers, Mud and Sweet. "-Fufkin.com. There are so few bands that mine this territory of power pop, sadly...the only one in the last 10 years that did it as good as the Oranges was The Vandalias. Suck the sweet nectar and rejoice.
