M.J. Peters - The Creaking Stair

Here`s a one of a kind release and, no, that does not mean overly wacky, strange or downright weird! M.J. Peters mines the territory of Martin Newell, Andy Patridge and more recent XTC and Robyn Hitchcock. Maybe some They Might Be Giants, although, I`ve never been a big fan of that band must say(but am of M.J. Peters!). But the embrace of `67-`69 era Beatles, those wondrous Lennon-esque acid-soaked excursions, is welcome and present here. Translation: This all means there is a vaguely underlining of psychedelic dreaminess inside the melodies that waft gently over many of the songs here, while others are - okay you got me - a bit, uh, wacky `n weird. But in a (very) good way! All the material here is sweetly breezy, a creative pop porridge stirred up with whimsical, simply catchy hooks and melodies all over the place. Peters and his co-horts are pop psychonauts who view the world through Alice In Wonderland shaped sunglasses and that is a very, very enjoyable thing on "The Creaking Stair". Very Highly Recommended!
