gritty and always catchy grounding. Like his debut which many of you picked
up here(" Comin` Back Again "), "No Vacancy" is a out-right winner.
Stigers` voice is a combination of Danny Wilde(The Rembrandts), Chris
Robinson(Black Crowes) and Mick Jagger, believe it or not. Like "Comin` Back
Again", this material has a roots-pop feel grounding it, an energizing
ingredient in a welter of Wall of Sound, throwback Tom Petty open-chorded
jangle, a bit of rockin` funk of Lenny Kravitz and sharp-eared pop
tunefulness. Fans of Tom Petty, Gin Blossoms, a poppy-ish Black Crowes and
Convoy need to check Stigers out, for sure. Jake Stigers has a great voice
that seems to blend the pipes of front men of rocks glory days with the
swagger of more contemporary artists. If only they all came this great."
PopMatters
" I really shouldn`t like Jake Stigers music since it`s
filled with blues, Rolling Stones sounding rock and even some country
influences. People who knows me well, knows that I barely ever listen to
blues, Rolling Stones or country music but Jake`s got something that appeals
to me. Perhaps it`s his cool "It`s only rocknroll" attitude and his lovely
voice that speaks right to your heart, I know for sure that when artists
play their music with a lotta soul and do it real good - I can listen to
nearly anything as long as it`s for real and has plenty of melodies. Jake`s
got all that, he payed a visit in powerpop land on his previous album
"Comin` back again" but you can`t hardly find any traces at all of his The
Rembrandts type of songs on the new album. I wonder if he`s sitting at home
listening to Gregg Allman all day long coz I feel Gregg`s spirit all over
this album in a bluesy kinda way.
The midwest rocker "She`s a woman" is my favorite but I also find the short
acapella track "Slow time" very amusing to listen to, not to mention the
pubrock of "Tomorrow never comes" that smells Sammy Hagar for miles in his
Cabo Wabo style. "No Vacancy" is just as good as his first album but a
helluva lot more rootsy!"-Melodic.net. Very Highly Recommended!
