Dave Stoops merges the a most interesting web of connection of cool, varied pop stylings with a most distinctive vocal style that evokes primo cool. Stoops sounds a lot like Karl Wallinger of World Party(and like Chris Bailey from The Saints), a very good thing and, in fact, much of the material sounds like the long, lost World Party album that fans have been waiting for the last 15 years or so. "Private Revolution" has to be an album on Stoops` `regular play` shelf and that is the highest of compliments as that one is a classic and the strongest material sounds bring the party to that spirit. There`s also a great Ray Davies, Difford & Tilbrook, Green On Red and Paul Westerberg feel here, as well a bit of the late, great The Only Ones and the work of The Saints during their 80`s period. And I swear, Dave Stoops is a Mick Taylor fan such are the peek-a-boo moments of early 70`s Stones that creep in for short bits of glory. There`s a few songs that sound like Lloyd Cole & The Commotions playing The Strokes, such is the modern updated sound of the backward praisings of Stoops` most excellent taste in music. <p> Featuring bursts of trumpet, sax and slide guitar, Spill Your Drink is a sonic blend of clever melodic hooks and classic British grace with lyrics of Tennessee Williams` decadent South. The best thing is that I have a sneaky, wonderful feeling that this is a release that I will pulling out in 20 years. It`s that cool. You bet, big time Extremely Highly Recommended!
