THE WELL WISHERS - post modern romantic

2010 release from Jeff Shelton`s Well Wishers project. "Post Modern Romantic" ushers in a clear reality to me: Jeff Shelton is one of the biggest secrets in the `power pop` world. Not that `secret` is the right word as he`s been a veteran of the scene releasing well over 10 projects in a 15 year period and well respected by the intelligentsia and long-time pop geeks(bless us all!).

As his output increases, the reality come to bear that a whole lot more people need to know his work. His recent side project Headslide is just another in a long list of winners and `must haves`. Now, "Post Romantic Romantics hits the streets and your audio player.

As I`ve mentioned in the past, The Well Wishers are easy to enjoy for genuine power pop fans with chugging, melodic rhythms, powerful hooks, angelic vocals, verses that tickle `n hint at `the great money shot of a classic chorus and a respectful homage to pop peers. Those inspirations include the Shoes, The Posies, Nada Surf and Matthew Sweet. The album`s rich, melodic tracks are driven heavily by acoustic guitars; warm, ringing electric guitars, and cascading vocal harmonies that punctuate Shelton`s penchant for elaborate pop arrangements. Shelton and The Well Wishers are wholly incapable of not delivering the goods and add this one to a substantial list of "Grade A" power pop.
