Classic Unknown Power Pop Band.
Have your attention? Who am I talking about?
Spinning Jennies. |

Who are Spinning Jennies? Well, a band that since the very beginnings of Not Lame(1995) who released five albums of some of the best power pop you probably never heard. Which is a shame, but the band(who broke up a few years back) has put together a fix for this problem. How?
With “Full Volume - The Best Of Spinning Jennies”, that’s how! Alongside the band, Not Lame has worked up a fantastic, exclusive offer for anyone picking up this CD from Not Lame. (but this offer expires on August 15th, so don’t wait!)
Compiling the best from the band's five-album catalog as well and new songs and previously unreleased material, Full Volume is a venerable retrospective to one of San Francisco's most respected and long-lived power pop bands. As a non-nonsense power trio, The Jennies’ sound embodied the cornerstones of classic power pop: big chiming guitars, driving rhythms, soaring vocal harmonies...and the ever-important melodic hook! Through the years, they have received comparison to bands like 70’s power pop icons Shoes, The Posies, Redd Kross, Cheap Trick, Sloan, Husker Du and Matthew Sweet.

There are 18 songs on this best-of, including to new tracks ("Day Away" and "Big Deal") and two previously unreleased tracks ("Where Does The Time Go" and "Identity Crisis")! Sonically speaking, most of the older tracks here have been re-mixed and re-mastered making it a new experience for the folks who have some of this material already. But Spinning Jennies are all about catchy, concise song structures; a full, aggressive guitar sound; thundering rhythm section, big hooks and smooth, melodic vocals accented by soaring harmonies. The songs are always catchy and the rhythm section thunders and the melodies soar! If you have never heard this band before, this is where to land.

We first discovered Spinning Jennies in 1995, the very beginning of Not Lame and the launching point in the history of the band, as well. In 1997, Not Lame released its first compilation, The World’s Best Power Pop Album...Really! To this day, I still feel this is best power pop compilation, ever. Truly. REALLY! It had 22 bands on it and each track was a perfect represenation of what was going in mid 90’s power pop.

EXCLUSIVE BONUS #3:
Download of "Twenty-Four Seven” from The Well Wishers.
“Twenty-Four Seven” is the debut album from Spinning Jennies guitarist Jeff Sheltons most recent band, The Well Wishers. It is an album that Fufkin.com touted: “This will likely be considered one of the best power pop albums of 2004.”
The Well Wishers take all the glory and pop joy that was Spinning Jennies and refined it and Shelton took the next evolutionary, creative jump into the future. This album`s rich, melodic tracks are driven heavily by acoustic guitars; warm ringing electric guitars, and cascading vocal harmonies punctuated by Shelton`s penchant for elaborate pop arrangements. The end result is a big, full-bodied album that transcends the staleness of commercial-rock and forgettable pop cliches.
