Steadman - Loser Friendly

ONE OF KIND, only ONE COPY of this Canadian import. Steadman`s 2000 debut that has been terribly hard to find since their 2003 major label release, here in the US. "3 stars... British bands don`t necessarily have a lot of British influences, but in many cases, they do. Steadman, for example, is a British band that brings a wealth of British influences to its debut album, Loser Friendly, which came out in England in 1999 before being released in the U.S. in 2000. Oasis, Suede and Radiohead are among the British bands that come to mind when one is listening to this consistently melodic Brit-pop/alternative pop-rock effort. There are also traces of the Beatles (the most famous British rock band ever) and Crowded House (an Australian band) in some of leader Simon Steadman`s writing, and the most noteworthy American influence is probably R.E.M.-of course, R.E.M. is an American band that was heavily influenced by British Invasion rock. But Steadman doesn`t need to be compared to Radiohead, R.E.M. or anyone else to be validated-Simon Steadman is a talented vocalist/composer in his own right, and his band brings an attractive sound to "No Control," "Love/Hate Everything," "Oceans of You" and other promising tracks. Loser Friendly is a bit uneven, but more often than not, the songs are memorable and indicate that Steadman is a band to keep an eye on."-AMG
